North to South: A travel with a feast!
I woke up early this morning as usual. Ate breakfast and hear some music saved in the laptop. Unfortunately, my time to relax has to be cut. Class starts at three in the afternoon for my Journalism majors.
I went out at six and packed my things inside my Dark Blue Jansport bag. At eleven, Oh! I mean, past eleven in the morning. I was able to go to Manila. It was my intention to try new routes like Baclaran, ride LRT line 1 from Baclaran to Central station. Central station is in SM Manila as its famous landmark. It took me two hours to travel and let my butt numbed.
It wasn’t a boring travel. As I alighted from the train, I went to SM Manila and asked the guard if there is a Smart Center (one of the famous telecommunications networking company) for a new internet post paid line here in Cavite. Unfortunately, the guard said “NO”.
So, I went straight to a jeep (a ten passenger seat common here in the Philippines) going to Quiapo. It was really fun. As I alighted from the jeep, I walked like a model going to school. I saw one of my classmates in Journalism named Jewel. Then she asked, “Pupunta ka ba kina Wincel?” It was an obvious yes from me. Miracle (one of my classmates in Journalism too) told me that our professor will treat us for the fare. How fair is that?
No classes for our majors. It was obviously a travel and an exemplary rewarding experience. I was able to be in a fiesta again. I have never been to Sta. Maria, Bulacan. But through Wincel’s invitation (our classmate in Journalism) we were able to see the old culture of Filipino thanksgiving and warmth.
The food was all simple but amazing. We ate a cauliflower coated with yellow flour. The fresh lumpia, Buko Pandan, and ham were great to eat. I also saw the band which is very common to all Fiestas. And most of all the laughs, exchange of old experiences and gossips, too. They were all part of a great day.
Fortunately, I have to go home. So, I asked Wincel, his mom and dad about it. I said Thank you and I truly appreciate their invitation. Wincel, Jaymark and I rode the motorcycle going to Walter Mart where the bus heading to Cubao is located.
It was really a great travel. From Northbound to Southbound commuting all day was fun. I rode a bus from Sta. Maria, Bulacan to North Edsa MRT. Then, the lovely train going to Taft was tough. It didn’t end there. I waited for about twenty minutes for the SM Dasmarinas, Pala Pala where I can settle and take a rest. It was an hour ride literally. I was able to read two to three chapters of Michael Crichton’s State of Fear due to that.
There was a delay for the bus tanked oil somewhere in Dasmarinas, Cavite. It was in Shell. But anyway, I alighted safe from the Bus. I truly thanked God Almighty. Then, the jeep heading to Country Meadows (the townhouse we’re living today).
Postscript:
Well, I walked from the Church of Sta.Maria going to Wincel’s house. It was tiring but rewarding for we were able to see the beauty of the town. I was able to see the “perya” or the carnival known in English.
Even our professor said about “Tsubibo” or Ferris wheel. Somehow, it wasn’t the typical classroom learning but an actual experience about Filipino culture. Just like fiesta which still exists in our country today. At least, a new adventure out of the box has been collected.
Oh! We were with Mike, the nephew of our dear professor who had a craniotomy due to a motor vehicle accident. He warned us not to be accident prone people about riding those motorcycles.
Well, sleepy headed and tired is what I am feeling right now. I got to sleep. Please read until my next adventure.
