September 26, 2009: Ondoy visited the Philippines with heavy rainfall, strong winds and cloudy skies. Which causes flashfloods, landslide, destruction of houses and building; and death. The rich, middle class people and underprivileged was not forgotten by its natural phenomenon. Stranded passengers walked against the dangerous effects of flood that may harm their health, safety and security. Residents stayed on their roof houses starving and wet. Hospitals drowned by flood waters. Even malls were not forgiven.
Ondoy has been a one timer popular media limelight to the Philippines and even to the international community. The talk of the town storm has affected the hearts of all Filipino.
We all admit that Ondoy devastated a lot of houses, buildings, cars and lives. However, the effect of Ondoy to the Mass Communication has its peak. Let’s list down all the networking sites in the promulgation of societal awareness:
• Facebook. One of the most popular networks sharing websites. Every time that we will open this website. We may see posts like let’s pray for our Fellow Filipinos who were affected by Bagyong Ondoy. The lists of places on where we will volunteer for repacking the relief goods. www.facebook.com
• Twitter. A site on which all one to three liner, with a limit of 140 characters; we may post all the latest happenings and scenarios especially the Ondoy’s wrath in our country. www.twitter.com
• Multiply. A blogging site, open for anyone who shared their insights, experiences either good or bad during the storm. Even photos similar to facebook can be posted. www.multiply.com
• Plurk. It has Karma meter but the point is posting on how we can help our fellow Filipinos who were affected by Ondoy. It has been a helpful site. www.plurk.com
• Blogspot. Another blogging website which is also open for writing enthusiast. Most of the bloggers shared their opinions and photos about the Ondoy. www.blogspot.com
Mass Communication is not necessary for radio, television and newspaper or magazines. Through the introduction of the internet; a lot of new forms of mass communication have been unfold. We have blogs which is a shared online journal where people can post diary entries about their personal experiences and hobbies. The micro blogging which can be find in facebook, plurk and twitter. These are one to two liner posts developing simple sentence construction and simplifying thoughts. Picture Galleries through blogs are interesting especially to those people who are fond of seeing them. They will realize a story through the pictures.
Whenever we write our ideas, emotions and experiences; we must think first. The application of Confucius’ Golden Rule is essential. These are gifts of technology for us freedom writers to educate, inform and entertain our fellows. We need not to be an irksome for the readers, yet a valiant to the depressing world.
Ondoy has surmounted the masses and so the communication bridging a formation of help to our “kababayans” who were affected by this phenomenon. It is indeed a fantastic unification for all of us. – Alex Baylon

A Damn Morning
“Tapusin mo ang nursing mo”, my mom said. My mom doesn’t even think how I hated that course. She just spoke those words without thinking, how it hurt my feelings when I was not able to finish it due to her indecisiveness.
“Nakaya ko nga ang tatlong taon na nabaon ako sa utang”, she even added. She didn’t think how I also suffered from all the short allowances. The humiliation I got from being a nursing student. I was even told “bobo” by my officemate in my second contact center who happened to be an untrustworthy person.
I really hate my mom. What can I do? I need her to provide my allowance for I’m a bum for this moment. I told her that, If I am degree holder, then I can work in a more stable and likeable job.
I don’t like to give up for now. I will still fight for all the odds I received. All the humiliations and injustice I got. I experienced pain, depression and indifferences.
My mom can be right in this statement, “Hihingi ka pa rin ng tulong sa mga kamag-anak mo”. Our family will always be our last rope when we need help.
It’s really a damn morning. Somehow, I will find ways to seek good things. Most likely, tonight will be a good night. Just to add, Life is complicated better yet find peace.
Well, I’ll apply again for an Online teaching job or contact center job again. I will also have my clearance. Wish me luck. I hope to land a job today.
