What is gossip and rumor?

Gossip is malicious talk or rumor, especially about the personal or private affairs of others, meant to harm the subject's reputation in the community. It is one of the oldest and most common means of sharing facts and views, but also has a reputation for the introduction of errors and variations into the transmitted information. The term can also imply that the idle chat or news is of personal or trivial nature, as opposed to normal conversation but may not be intentionally malicious.

Rumor is a concept that lacks a particular definition in the social sciences. But most theories agree that rumor involves some kind of a statement whose veracity is not quickly or ever confirmed. In addition, some scholars have identified rumor as a subset of propaganda, the latter another notoriously difficult concept to define.

When does it begin?

Most rumors start out as simple gossip. Typically, a rumor does not begin with malicious intent, but instead as a form of speculation. Many people will make blanket statements about what they think has occurred in a given situation. This is then passed on. "Stacy thinks that Roger will get the job." Although Stacy likely has no authority on the situation and her statement was made in speculation alone, the rumor mill has started, and before long, it is well known that Roger is getting the job whether he has applied for the position or not.

Why is it harmful to human relationship?

· Rumoring is a waste of time and energy. People could use that energy on creating and producing on improving their own lives.

· It increases anxiety in an already anxious environment.

· It destroys careers, relationships and reputations.

· It creates camps and divides organizations.

· It reduces the credibility of those spreading them.

· It reduces trust and confidence.

How should people handle gossips and rumors?

· Do not participate in rumors and gossips. Try to be nice and polite.

· Avoid discussing it.

· Use distraction. Give the impression of being in a bit of rush.

· Know who is the one spreading the rumor and have a plan so you will not catch off guard.

· Keep calm.

· Address the issue while it is small.

· Try to talk to those spreading the rumors that it is not true and tell everyone that it is not true as well.

Good leaders and people have the skills to solve the conflicts and issues related to gossips and rumors.

“What you don’t see with your eyes, don’t witness with your mouth” according to a Jewish proverb. It means that we should not spread rumors and gossips to our brethren. Through this write up, we will thoroughly peel the process of rumors and gossips. In which causes a friction and conflict to the people responsible and involve.

Rumor involves some kind of a statement whose truthfulness or veracity is not confirmed. It is difficult to define. It is better concluding once you know the source. While gossip is about personal or private affairs of others causing harm to another person’s reputation. Most rumors start as a gossip which does not begin with malicious intent instead a form of speculation or a theory. It does not have a concrete evidence to support the information.

So, why is it harmful to human relationships? It is a waste of time and energy. In which people could use that energy in creating and producing on how to improve their lives, in addition to the increase of anxiety or distress or uneasiness of mind. Also, it destroys careers, relationships, and reputations. It creates camps and divides organizations. In effect to the reduction of credibility of those spreading them which reduces trust and confidence to everyone involve.

If anyone spread rumors and gossips, do not participate and try to be nice and polite. Avoid discussing it and use distraction such as giving an impression of being in a bit of a rush. You should know the person spreading the rumor and have a plan so that you will not catch off guard. Keep calm in the situation and address the issue while it is small. To add, try to talk those spreading the rumors and everyone that it is not true. Involve good leaders and people who have the skills to solve conflicts and issues.

To teach is to nurture and develop the society. Since its teacher’s month, it is the right time to appreciate our teachers who mold our virtues, life plans and future endeavors. I, myself want to be a language and writing teacher so that I can teach kids on how to develop their language abilities and creativity.

A language and writing teacher helps children to write words properly. It is his or her responsibility to guide them using the instrument of blackboard and chalk. Second, he or she gives feedback on how to develop the language ability of his or her students. It is through constant recitation and writing assignment where the teacher can check and spot the flaws. Third, he or she creates visual aids to make a happy learning environment. It is through art and concrete aids that students can identify and learn spontaneously. Fourth, he or she makes lesson plans than an organized classroom teaching is well-maintained. Finally, he or she let the students write, recite and formulate their writing progress through the focus guideline of a language and writing teacher.

What makes me love the job? My personality and motivation to learn from children and teach them in developing their language ability is a plus. In addition, my love in writing and sharing them is fulfilling. Frequent reading – books, magazines and newspapers – is helpful in sharing new ideas to children. Also, language is one of my favorite subjects in school. In summary, my hard work and living for my dream is an additional package that I have. To conclude, a teacher nurtures and develops society.
